Hello World .. tis me Janet ..

Its been a while, how are you ?

Life has been a roller coaster of changes, interruptions and patience building exercises for the past 2 years but I am dipping my toes back into the blogging world. I have missed it.

I am still scrapbooking and playing with mixed media and resin.  Albeit, the resin making is now purely for my own work and not for sale. I have soo much that needs a new home but am short on time and would rather spend that time creatively than fulfilling orders. In fact, if your after some FREE resin embellies, send me a message with your details and then I will provide an address so you can a stamped self addressed envelope with another inside it that is addressed to you and also stamped with $4 of stamps (no bigger than A5 size please) - so I can send you some goodies back - for nothing but some stamps! .. you dont need to tag me in your creations, but I wont say not to being able to see what you use it for. Open for Residents of Australia Only and offer closes 30th November 2020.

In my hiatus I have discovered a LOOOVE of kits, and how they all look some wonderful and blend so well. I may or may not (shhh) have purchased a few in the recent Cocoa Vanilla sale for NSD Day. To go with the ones I had from the Scrappery and Kitaholic Kits. If you have a super efficient way of storing them that wont cost me as much as a kit, drop me a comment below. Right now they are all stored seperately in 12" plastic envelopes.

In the meantime, I will get back to the safety of my covid-safe world and play with some paint today. I hope to share a few layouts over the next few days depending on how the weather goes for taking the pics.

Cheers
Janet

Product Post!

I figured it was about time that I started showcasing The Resin Rainbow's product line in my blog making it even easier for you to see and purchase rather than going to a seperate website to do so.

yes I know I could create a seperate blog that is just for this purpose but by having it all in one, you can see how I have also used the products making it more fun and interesting for you and less work for me by having to keep 2 blogs running!

There will be a tab at the top of the blog that says STORE.. and in here you will be able to see almost everything that can be purchased available.

More than happy to take requests and custom orders. I am working on a way to add variations to each product as your purchasing to add colour so you dont need to me to send you a message asking what colour/s you would like!

For now, you can also view & purchase The Resin Rainbow's products on Etsy.

cheers

White .. with 1 November Creative Team .. Niagara

I had a ball playing with Niagara this month and had the perfect image for it.
Its a pic of someone I love very much doing his amazing job as a photojournalist for the defence force. For security reasons (much like a dentist lol) I had to blur his face out but you get the idea still. He looks damn handsome in his service dress uniform. Pic was taken earlier this year in Belgium at the Anzac Day celebrations to comemorate 100 years since WW1. You can see some of his amazing work on the defence force you-tube channel if your interested.

A quick breakdown of the embellishments used:

Have a super Month!

September SUYS DT layout ..

Welcome to September! .. This year is just flying by way to fast! ..
This month we are using this super easy sketch, designed by Krisy, along with mixed media in our DT layouts. Not that mixed media is much of a challenge for me.
Also don't forget to include your handmade item!

The winner of the challenge for September will receive an awesome prize pack from DT member Krisy!

Have
Krisy shares her art under the name Popleopod. You can find her on Facebook and Instagram.

Here is my contribution, it started with some gesso on the background, then I added some gorgeous minty thick washi tape and flowed some jade acrylic paint in swirls on the background. Added some chevron acetate and lots of goodies from my real/mint stash.

I then layers plenty of resin craft embellishments from The Resin Rainbow in teal to make the picture pop. Don't ever be afraid of mixing your colours, sure they were not all the exact same colour, but they are all part of he green colour family so they all blend in beautifully!

Here are the supplies from the page:

White.. with 1 January Challenge–Treetop

Happy 2016 to you all!
This colour reminds me of sunshine and rainbows and Kermit! .. maybe its the green, its a very frog like green isnt it? The Rainbow Connection even.

As soon as I got saw colour I KNEW it was going to lean towards a nature/tropical type image and these ones from our last trip to Penang where we stayed at Golden Sand Resort at Batu Ferringhi were PERFECT!

Lots of fabulous pieces from The Resin Rainbow have been added and some diluted gelatos were used for the big green splash on the background.

Click on the link for the direct link to the products in my store .. you can request whatever colour/s you like from the drop down list on each link.
Have you had a chance to check out what the rest of the CT have done with this amazing colour yet? here is the link so you can and then give it a shot and upload your own challenge entry too!

WW1 December Challenge–Majorca Blue

I had so much fun playing with this colour and finding an image that just suited it so well. There was no doubt it was going to be an image of my lil dude, it was just a which one?

This image was taken on a day when he had had a BIG day with face painting, lots of fun and of course, the afternoon breakdown. It always coincides with face painting so he ends up looking like a bad version of the ‘dark knight’ with a very smudged face and super puffy eyes.

janet

The title actually says ‘why so glum chum’ but because I used the clear resin alphabet from The Resin Rainbow and smeared some blue ink over the top its not showing up so well. The close-up images below show it much better!

IMG_6525

Ingredients Used:
Resin Alphabet, ball border peices, cut up white mandala and blue star are all from The Resin Rainbow on etsy and on Facebook.
White muslin behind title from the first aid kit in the kitchen.
Want to see whatelse the rest of the CT girls have done with this amazing colour: go and check out the WW1 Blog for lots of fab inspiration!

Kraft+ November Challenge ‘pink’

I was lucky enough to asked to be a guest designer for this colour due to my store The Resin Rainbow also sponsoring a prize for the month! The Resin Rainbow are providing a prize pack valued at $15 for one lucky scrapper!

12041989_10205259350346904_1826955331_n

I went with some lyrics from Pink’s song ‘less than perfect’ to tie in with the theme. My crazy daughter had got redskin lolly stuck in her long hair after gymnastics ones wednesday. Yes, I know (how?) and yes, it was fun to get out too. Lots of hair washing and shampoo helped it to ‘melt’.

The lyrics I used are on the layout, but you can see them in full here.

Tiara Pin is from Rainbow Splendour

White. with 1 November Grape Challenge / Nov 2015

This colour was one that I loved playing with. I started this layout at the Workshop Wonders in August in the amazing Beck Beattie’s workshop and it evolved!   The purple was just the perfect colour to bring life to this picture and make it all so very pretty! ..

The ‘make a wish’ word, hessian star, black frame, big grape paper flower were included in the workshop kit.

The circle stamp background is from Beck’s own stash.

The silver gem strand (?), cream tiny daisy, White paper rose and larger daisies were from my own stash.

White.. with 1 August / Custard Challenge

No matter what I did, I could not get this layout to scan properly and colour correcting it was a nightmare! .. It is still too blue. Its not in real life but it just wouldnt change!

custard

An amazing colour that was soo very easy to play with and worked really well with this image of my hubby and I on one of our last ‘motorbike date nights’ when we were living in Adelaide.

The background was done with some ‘smooshing’ using Tim Holtz stain in Banana and swiped with some white gesso as well. There is also some mesh tape from bunnings on it for texture.
The black painted  ‘memory’ is from HS and the other letters were painted with TH banana stain paint.
The white filigree layering piece on the left, the black doily and the yellow resin dots are all from The Resin Rainbow. She has a an online store on ebay and on facebook with lots of gorgeous and unique products.
The White rose had some paint and glitter splashed on it, it along with the black sequins are from D-lish ScrapsThe Flair is from Funky Flairs Studio.

Kraft + Challenge for August (Zentangle Doodling)

10409228_1002351409776723_2217537075548657307_n
I wasn’t sure if I was going to get the chance to enter the kraft+ challenge this month but I was looking through (my ever increasing) mould stash and came across the perfect resin piece for it!  So I went for it and locked in a few hours to procrastinate, make 3 different backgrounds before I liked this one and made it work!

TRR zentangle
Kraft Aug Zentangle Challenge
This layout after the initial hiccups fell into place really quickly. I wanted the image of “oscar’ to be the focal and not the doodling so I kept it fairly minimal and to the side. I didnt use the whole resin layer, I cut it up using my Tim Holtz rubber scissors.
There is journalling but its on the back, I find that I do that quite often with my pages. It reads “Oscar - He was a really sweet baby kitty but unfortunately we couldn’t convince the other furry member of our home (a rescue greyhound) that Oscar was friend not food. She was just a little bit curious about him to make ours a permanent home for him. We have our suspicions that in ‘her past life’ Harper (the elegant and very easygoing, loyalloves everyone and shares her food with the other cat and chickens) may have dealt with kittens in a different way. We were not sure if she wanted to mother him or smother him. It wasn’t a chance we wanted to take.

Some close-up images and a breakdown of supplies ..
Kraft Aug Zentangle Challenge Parts
Zentangle Resin Layer Piece and alphabet letters in ‘Oscar’ from The Resin Rainbow on ebay or facebook.
Mirror Circle Dots were purchased from a craft show earlier this year.
Black/White lined paper is about 10-12 years old and from my scraps drawer. I think it was done by Paper Pizzaz (who are no longer around).

White.. with 1 Scrap Challenge–Raspberry Wine / May

Absoloutely perfect colour to compliment this image of my lil miss! .. Amazing how the green of the grass and the pink stripe on her hat all POP when put with this colour!

janet

Lots of different techniques went into the background!  .. lots of fun making a mess with Tim Holtz Stain and the Paint in Raspberry Pink. It matched so well with this challenge colour!

Some tissue paper play was had and was adhered with gel medium. This stuff made the whole layout very heavy!

The damask resin background piece is actually 2 diff colours and was from custom made in those colours by cycloneboonty_pl_goodies. I cut it up to fit where I wanted it to go. It cuts easily using rubber scissors. The reverse damask shapes were also used to add extra depth and to show symmetry!. I added some white string on top to bring it all together.
The flowers were from Delish scraps. They kinda just fell onto the page and the resin feathers and the butterflies (also from cycloneboonty_pl_goodies) in raspberry and white. They added a lil extra.

Thanks for looking  ..

White .. With 1 April Challenge - Sand

This image had been sitting in my stash to do for quite a while. It was taken at the end of a big canter/walk/run/sniff/sit time with my greyhound Harper. She was ridiculously tired when I decided to do a 'houndy selfie' but I loved that as soon as it was done - she sniffed my nose (a greyhound version of a kiss) to say - thanks mum.

Used some white muslin at the bag of the image to add some depth, and the circles were cut out of an old sheet of Kaisercraft pattern paper and very randomly sanded.
Small amount of white SC mist was dropped onto it along with some white and sand coloured enamel dots. SC stars are also scattered all over the layout.
Resin bird and white heart are from cycloneboonty_pl_goodies.
The tags and bits are all from my stash.

Why don't you go and see what the rest of the WW1 Creative Team have done with this versatile colour? ..

Thanks for dropping by ..
