Hello World .. tis me Janet ..

Its been a while, how are you ?

Life has been a roller coaster of changes, interruptions and patience building exercises for the past 2 years but I am dipping my toes back into the blogging world. I have missed it.

I am still scrapbooking and playing with mixed media and resin.  Albeit, the resin making is now purely for my own work and not for sale. I have soo much that needs a new home but am short on time and would rather spend that time creatively than fulfilling orders. In fact, if your after some FREE resin embellies, send me a message with your details and then I will provide an address so you can a stamped self addressed envelope with another inside it that is addressed to you and also stamped with $4 of stamps (no bigger than A5 size please) - so I can send you some goodies back - for nothing but some stamps! .. you dont need to tag me in your creations, but I wont say not to being able to see what you use it for. Open for Residents of Australia Only and offer closes 30th November 2020.

In my hiatus I have discovered a LOOOVE of kits, and how they all look some wonderful and blend so well. I may or may not (shhh) have purchased a few in the recent Cocoa Vanilla sale for NSD Day. To go with the ones I had from the Scrappery and Kitaholic Kits. If you have a super efficient way of storing them that wont cost me as much as a kit, drop me a comment below. Right now they are all stored seperately in 12" plastic envelopes.

In the meantime, I will get back to the safety of my covid-safe world and play with some paint today. I hope to share a few layouts over the next few days depending on how the weather goes for taking the pics.

Cheers
Janet

White .. with 1 Creative Team - Pink Whisper Oct2017

This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! .. it is an unfortunate fact that 1in3 people will be affected by this insiduous desease at some stage in their life. I myself have lost 2 family members, 2 very good friends. So this month is all about being aware, being safe and getting yourself checked!

Pink Whisper is the name of the colour for October and as you can see its a gorgeous 'baby pink' inspired colour. It was such fun to work with such a pretty colour tone.

In conjuction with the colour, this sketch is also available to use. You do not need to use it exactly as it is, its a sketch - use it as a rough guide to make your layout with.

Its used:
Watercolour paint in baby pink was painted on the background
Punchinella Resin Sheet from The Resin Rainbow was used as the main/bottom layer
Various Cardstock Layering pieces
Imaginarium Chipboard scroll frame (cut in half) and painted black
Cabbage Flowers from The Resin Rainbow
Resin Dots from The Resin Rainbow
Scallop Border (cut in half, ontop of polaroid frame) from The Resin Rainbow
Tulle Piece from the from The Resin Rainbow Colour Kit for October

SUYS September Mid Month Design Team Reveal - mixed media challenge

New month, new challenge!! This month we want you to create something with mixed media! Don't forget to also include a handmade item! 😃

Here is what I came up with, I finally scrapped some pics of my hurricane boy on the day he got glasses.

A huge amount of mixed media in this one. I did smears of colourblast texture paste in 3 colours, used gel medium to adhere some pattern paper with the glasses on it, added in some black stencilling, some stamping in a few places too. On top I added a cut up white lattice border sheet and some string was haphazardly glued under the pic. This was a lot of fun!

Items used:
Colourblast texture paste in black, orange and blue
Stencil used was
Glasses pattern paper byWhite Hexagon patterned resin border piece (cut up) by The Resin Rainbow..
orange striped dots by The Resin Rainbow..
square striped dots by The Resin Rainbow..
stay cool cluster and star flair epoxy by Rainbow Splendour
Blue arrow pin by Rainbow Splendour
Glasses embellishment and blue flag pin by Delish Scraps

Still got time to get yours completed.. checkout the SUYSBlog   or more inspo and to submit yours. Some fab prizes are on offer this month!

SUYS July Design Team Entry - back to nature

Wow! What a tricky one this turned out to be for July! .. I couldnt find an image that worked so I had to visit the local show to take one while at the rescue koala pavillion!

I was unsure of how to make this all work and started out with some smears of colourblast colour paste in chocolate? on the background, had a sudden idea to add some gum leaves so out come the ancient HS leaves stencil which I the traced around and then filled in with watered down gelatos. Lastly I added some green and brown sharpie marker around the leaves and inside them.

I glued all the resin leaves down with E6000 by helmar.

Items Used:
Resin Leaves from The Resin Rainbow
Metallic Looking Mesh from Sirrah Sirrah as part of the goodie bag at Escape to Create recently.
Various paper layers from my stash.

suys June Design team Entry!

Welcome to June!

This layout came together really quickly once I found the image I was after!
The challenge for this month was to use 2 colours next to each other on the colour wheel.
Normally with a colour wheel you use a colour opposite so they compliment each other but in this instance it was slightly trickier!

The pic of my crazy daughter on crazy sock day at school was perfect with a mix of blue and green in the image already.

Products Used:
Parts of the tulip border by The Resin Rainbow
Green Resin Doily by The Resin Rainbow
Green & Blue Resin Dots
White Resin Deer from Forest Animals Resin Set at The Resin Rainbow
Blue Bow by Rainbow Splendour
Striped Pin by Rainbow Splendour
Green Daisy Pin by an old scrap company thepaintbrushgoesspotty
Various papers from my stash or from Rainbow Splendour Kits

Thanks for looking.

Product Post!

I figured it was about time that I started showcasing The Resin Rainbow's product line in my blog making it even easier for you to see and purchase rather than going to a seperate website to do so.

yes I know I could create a seperate blog that is just for this purpose but by having it all in one, you can see how I have also used the products making it more fun and interesting for you and less work for me by having to keep 2 blogs running!

There will be a tab at the top of the blog that says STORE.. and in here you will be able to see almost everything that can be purchased available.

More than happy to take requests and custom orders. I am working on a way to add variations to each product as your purchasing to add colour so you dont need to me to send you a message asking what colour/s you would like!

For now, you can also view & purchase The Resin Rainbow's products on Etsy.

cheers
Janet

White ..with 1 challenge .. Creative Team Entry .. Teal Sequins

It's halfway through the year already! .. so much to do, so little time.
This layout almost made itself, I wanted to do a layout based on my daughter and her best friend. They are inseparable and spend not only each day together at school but cheating on messenger every day after school. They are 2 peas in a pod and we are lucky that they have found each other. This is friendship that will exist for their lifetimes, no matter what the future brings.

Along with the colour of Teal  Sequins for this month, we also had to incorporate a sketch!
I didnt follow the sketch exactly but thats the whole idea, to use it as a guide! You can see the similarities between the sketch and my layout - cant you?

Urrrgh! the colours on this layout look amazing when your seeing the original, but taking a picture of it was an absolute nightmare! .. after 12 attempts and some photoshop fixing - i gave up!  The below cropped images of the layout are very true to colour but it just wasnt working!

Items Used:
Resin Flowers from The Resin Rainbow..
Hashtag or plant leaves from The Resin Rainbow..
Heart Shape from The Resin Rainbow..
various cards etc from my stash.
Wood pieces from Corbett Creations

Have a great June!

White With 1.. May 2017 .. Deep Black

Welcome to May!
Can someone flew me where the last 4 months went to?, they have flown past!

I got a  bit clever with my title for this one. I took the chipboard word and coloured it with acrylic paint with a lettter per colour, added some crackle medium and then black paint over the top! .. while I wanted it to pop with full bright colour, that wouldn't have worked with the guidelines for the challenge or the layout! .. had forgotten all about that technique!

Products Used
Black booktape used as a tag strip
Resin Scroll Border from The Resin Rainbow (was cut up and glued ontop of strip)
White circle chipboard frame
Hexagon stencil with gesso and back paint on the background
Rainbow striped resin dots from The Resin Rainbow ..

Thanks for looking!
Cheers

SUYS Feb Design Team Entry

Welcome to February! .. had lots of fun playing with the challenge at Show Us your Stuff for this month!

I started with a swipe of silver paint using a brayer, then I added some 'sunshine' colourblast texture paste over the top using a very vintage HS dots 'mask'. Did some searching for a pattern paper with a cute border edge that I added on.
Somewhere in the middle of the night, I had the idea to add some silver/grey crepe paper as a sewn ruffle border to the side.
After that the colours just came just happened. I went for a pastel pallete with baby pink, lemon, mint, cream and a pop of colour using a white/black spotty card. All cards came from my stash of ephemera.

I received a new mold for The Resin Rainbow .. just as I was starting this layout and knew I was going to incorporate it somehow. So I cut up a part of the bespoke flower and pushed them into spot.

Items Used:
paper flowers all by D-Lish Scraps.

That's about it for now .. be sure to check out what the rest of the DT have done with this seriously fun challenge this month - and get yours in, you still have 2 days!

SUYS January 2017 DT Entry ..

Welcome to January!

With summer comes water, beaches and plenty of sunshine!  .. it was a no brainer for this layout to fall into place and a pic of my DD building a HUGE sandcastle on a beach on the Gold Coast, Qld kinda made it all work.

Here is the idea that the design team had to create with!

I grabbed a few pattern papers in colours & patterns that worked well with my mage and tore them up into smaller bits. I layered them over and under each other to make a paper collage and then added a coat of clear gel medium afterwards to keep them in place.

Items used:
yellow glitter stars & 2 butterflies by Rainbow Splendour
Happy Days chipboard word by Corbett Creations
Felt Bow by Dlish scraps.

you can see the rest of the amazing design teams January entries here! ..and dont forget to submit your own to win a prize pack from Burdies Embellishments!
